Kulen Mountain/ Phnom Kulen
Today we will visit Phnom Kulen, one of Cambodia’s most sacred mountains and the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. In 802 AD, King Jayavarman II declared independence here, marking the beginning of the Angkorian era.
Our first stop is Preah Ang Thom, home to a large reclining Buddha carved into a natural sandstone boulder. This is an important pilgrimage site for Cambodian Buddhists.
Next, we explore the River of 1,000 Shiva Lingas, where ancient Hindu carvings were created in the riverbed to bless the water flowing toward Angkor.
We then visit Phnom Kulen Waterfall, a beautiful natural attraction surrounded by lush forest. Guests can relax, take photos, or enjoy a refreshing swim.
