Koh Ker Group

Welcome to Koh Ker, the remote capital of the Khmer Empire from 928 to 944 AD during the reign of King Jayavarman IV. Located about 120 kilometers northeast of Angkor, Koh Ker served as the center of political and religious power for nearly twenty years before the capital returned to Angkor. Today, more than 180 monuments are scattered throughout the forest, making Koh Ker one of the most important archaeological sites in Cambodia. Unlike the temples of Angkor, the architecture here has its own unique style, characterized by massive sandstone blocks, giant sculptures, and impressive pyramid-shaped temples.
